Cynthia started her long running career in the business making the move into New York to pursue a job as a model. In a short time, Cynthia signed a 5-year contract with Wihelmina Models. It led to an extremely popular book and the cover of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover design for Essence was not only one of their most successful covers, but it was Susan Taylor's favorite. Cynthia was set to write her second cover. This put her career on the right track. She then moved into Paris and Milan in which she appeared walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia moved back to New York City after living abroad for nearly a year. The campaigns she worked on comprised Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Vogue editorials followed together with Glamour magazine, Elle, Essence Vanity Fair and Glamour. Cynthia's career was helped by being selected ahead of Naomi Campbell for the co-starring character in "Without You I'm Not Anything" with Sandra Bernhadt.
